Description
This vintage London Underground print shows a busy city street in the soft light of a sunny day, with commuters in long coats and hats heading down the stairway of a wrought-iron station entrance. The famous red and blue roundel hangs above the ornate black railings and glowing globe lamps, while red double-decker buses and an old black car pass the grand stone buildings behind.
Painted in a warm, illustrated style with pale blue skies, green plane trees and sunlit paving, this vintage poster has the charm of classic mid-century British travel art. The caption reads The Entrance, with a short line about the stairway leading travellers beneath the street, above bold red lettering that spells Underground.
It makes a lovely piece of vintage wall art for a hallway, living room, study or office, and suits anyone who loves vintage England prints, London transport, retro city scenes and nostalgic British street life. A fine addition to a gallery wall of vintage posters and vintage London prints.
