Description
This vintage Japanese koi poster shows two red and white koi fish swimming together, seen from above over a blue tiled pond. Orange maple leaves, pale stepping stones and soft drifting clouds frame the scene, while a bold red brush style title and the kanji 錦鯉 sit across the top. A small red panel carries the Japanese word ゆらゆら, which suggests gentle swaying movement.
The textured, slightly worn colour palette of red, orange, cream and deep blue gives the design the look of a vintage Japanese woodblock inspired travel poster. The captions Red and White and Pond Reflections along the bottom add to the retro feel, making it a lovely fit for anyone who collects vintage prints, vintage wall art and vintage posters with a Japanese theme.
A koi fish print like this works well in a living room, kitchen, hallway, study or a gallery wall of Japanese vintage art. It suits fans of koi, autumn maple scenery, Japanese pond gardens and retro poster design.
