Description
This vintage Japanese black cat print shows a hissing cat with its mouth wide open, sharp fangs bared and pale eyes fixed upward. The cat is rendered in deep cobalt blue with a grainy, ink-like texture, set against bold radiating stripes in blue and cream that burst out from behind its head. Long whiskers and fine fur detail give the image a dramatic, energetic feel.
Below the artwork sits Japanese text reading Kuroneko no Koe, meaning voice of the black cat, with a smaller line naming a cat expressions exhibition in Showa 52, which is 1977. The warm cream paper tone and limited blue palette give this vintage poster a retro Showa era look that suits a wide range of interiors.
A striking choice for vintage prints and vintage wall art collections, this vintage Japanese poster works well in a living room, hallway, studio or gallery wall. It will appeal to cat lovers and anyone who enjoys vintage cat posters, retro graphic design and bold Japanese typography.
